Gareth James, GJ Plant & Auto Electrics has been working with Xwatch Safety Solutions since 2019, when the company first launched, having worked with Chris Fitzgerald, a founder member of Xwatch, for some years previously.
Gareth has personally installed almost 300 Xwatch systems to date on a wide range of machines and successfully designed a solution to interface with an OEM and the X Watch system. Last week alone Gareth installed 13 systems for Thomas Plant, a leading plant hire company. And Thomas Plant have more on order.
One of the most interesting installs for Thomas Plant, of an Xwatch 5 system, took place over the weekend, which Gareth reported, "Turned into quite the weekend project."
Gareth added, "This was the first fully electric over hydraulic controlled Liebherr Earthmoving Equipment R922 I’ve worked on but we managed to get an error free interface between the machine and Xwatch system using the Xwatch bullet proof EHOC control boxes."
How is this install different?
Gareth explained, "The electric over hydraulic control translates the movement of the manipulator through an ecu, which in turn operates the control valves. This allows more precise operation. It also allows for condition monitoring of the circuits and coil for fault and diagnosis purposes."

The company (Xwatch) is also ‘forward thinking’ and is constantly adapting to requirements. I am currently working closely with Xwatch on a new wiring loom system that will provide a uniform, efficient, time saving install.”
GJ Plant and Auto Electrics also install pedestrian detection systems, 360 camera systems, trackers and telematics systems. The company is also able to offer electrical solutions, diagnostics and bespoke solutions.
