Called in by the Tree Brothers Matthew Durber and Daniel Durber at the planning stage, it was decided that the Liebherr with Telescopic Extension arm and GMT Equipment Felling Head would be the safest and most productive combination for the challenges of this section.
Their own full-spec JCB 140x once again does a fantastic job of clearing all the front material, to give the Liebherr a clear operating window to really get to work in.
Some challenging trees here, with all the reach required to remove awkward material from down slopes and third-party land, would have been incredibly difficult to achieve manually, and some very tall material close to structures.
What can you say about the Ufkes 962 Chipper? Nothing really does come close, it’s the most compact powerhouse of a machine, with a fantastic infeed system, that just eats material and produces a great end product.
On projects like this and the rate the Liebherr can produce material, it’s an essential link in the chain and the absolute benchmark for this type of work.
A special mention must go to Xwatch Safety Solutions for providing such easy-to-use systems that give the operator total confidence when operating in such confined zones, both the JCB140x and Liebherr running full spec systems here.
Thanks to Callum Dyckes who was entrusted to cover the night shift on the Liebherr, doing a great job of a difficult section of trees around structures, whilst ensuring the Liebherr was in top condition for another busy day shift.
I know us Mech Arb guys seem a bit over the top when it comes to machine lighting, but you really can’t beat a top spec light package on this type of work.
Many many people involved in the planning and successful execution of this section, and it was nice to cross back over the tracks well in good time.
Thanks to a great team who all played their part, it was a pleasure to be involved.
