The software is programed using the CODESYS platform. CODESYS provide the leading manufacturer-independent IEC 61131-3 automation software for engineering control. It's a platform that is universally recognised and used in OEM’s worldwide in automation and other high performing automation requirements. The XW series can be integrated with anti-collision systems, RFID personal warning systems, camera awareness systems, 3D machine control and Telematics.

All motions are individually controlled with feather touch ramped hydraulic slow down and soft stop. This eliminates machine bounce, overshoot or undershoot, which is gentler on the machine and safer for the operator and their surroundings. An optional chassis sensor can be installed to correct for terrain slope.
The height control feature protects workers from overhead danger when it is difficult to judge the actual height of the machine or the position of the booms from the cab. Operators can define a preset limit of the machines boom preventing movement of the boom beyond the pre-set limit.
Once any limit is reached the XW product will activate the "Feather Touch" proportional hydraulic control and bring the equipment to a safe and soft stop. The "Feather Touch" control is comfortable for the operator and much gentler on the machine by eliminating the shock of a sudden limit stop.
Controlling the slew of any machine used in construction is an important part of the safety and productivity equation. This is a part of the site safety puzzle that is often overlooked by contractors and their operators but can be simply addressed with the right equipment.
The Slew Control feature is a simple, cost effective slew limiting solution designed to guarantee safety and prevent machine damage when operating in confined spaces Angular slew restriction creates a V formation from the centre of the machine outwards to the maximum reach radius of the machine.
Lateral slew will require additional sensors on the arm of the machine, but will allow virtual walls to be set on either side of the machine or a combination of both. This will allow the machine to work within the safe area without the limitations that the angular V formation can give.
As the left or right slew limit is reached the “feather touch” proportional hydraulic control is released to cut off the relevant slew hydraulic service gently and safely thus stopping the machine from entering the exclusion zone.
The Slew operation in the opposite direction or back into the "safe" zone, is still permitted without any restrictions ensuring any reduction in productivity is kept to a minimum.
RCI is a rated capacity indicator that ensures the safe operation of lifting equipment throughout the machine’s working envelope. The system continually measures the height, radius and load on the machine, allowing operators to work at the maximum lifting capacity whilst remaining within the machine’s safe working load (SWL).
The RCI enables safe lifting operations through the machine’s working range. The RCI systems is fitted with the XW sensors and hydraulic transducers monitoring the working range at over 100 safety cycles a second and is also fitted with an audible alarm as standard (requirement by UK law), the system warns the operator should the machine approach its safe working load or user defined height limit.
In addition to the height limiting function, the XW series provides an accurate height value to the bucket pin and includes a basic dig depth indicator to assist excavator operators to dig to exact levels.
